Case study · Client quality engineering

WestJet Rewards validation for complex customer scenarios.

A public-safe summary of quality engineering work delivered through a Konrad consulting engagement, focused on rewards account behavior, business-rule validation, and release confidence.

Context

WestJet Rewards includes account, points, tier, offer, and card-linked scenarios where small rule mismatches can affect what customers earn or see. My role was to help validate that these behaviors matched the expected business requirements before release.

This case study uses a sanitized screenshot and intentionally omits private account data, internal implementation details, pipeline configuration, and confidential client material.

Stakeholder validation

I worked with stakeholders to clarify rewards scenarios and acceptance criteria across customer account flows. That included validating expected outcomes for points, tier qualification, flight-purchase behavior, and benefits connected to specific cards.

Quality strategy

The work required careful manual validation, detailed scenario coverage, and automation where repeatability mattered. I used Robot Framework and Playwright to support regression confidence around high-value journeys and edge cases.

Delivery integration

Automation was integrated into GitLab CI/CD workflows and supported by DevOps practices so validation could become part of delivery rather than a late manual checkpoint.

Engineering value

This engagement strengthened my ability to translate business rules into testable scenarios, communicate clearly with stakeholders, and protect production-facing user behavior through disciplined quality engineering.
